Cuban Chic at The Scott

As soon as Jamie Ihms, owner of Copper + Cotton, finished touring The Scott Resort & Spa, she couldn’t wait to start designing this colorful, tropical wedding with a fun, Cuban vibe.

ALL THE RIGHT TOUCHES Jamie was inspired by the different textures she found throughout the resort. Rustic woods. Carved stone. Woven rattan. Thick rope. And there was greenery everywhere. She even found inspiration for her color palette – blue from the resort’s outdoor furniture and pink from an orchid tree growing on site which fit perfectly into her cuban vibe.

SAY “I DO” TO GREAT DESIGN Jamie collaborated with Jodi White-Guthrie of Flowers by Jodi to design the ceremony site. First, they enlisted the talents of a macramé artist to create an amazing archway. Talk about texture! Then Jodi worked her magic to line the aisle with brilliantly-colored blooms like hot pink bougainvillea, yellow protea and pink Phalaenopsis orchids. The star of this show (other than our bride, of course) is the breathtaking bouquet Jodi fashioned from a giant King protea surrounded by a halo of color, including peach hyacinths, coral peonies, and vivid greenery, all set off by a custom macramé bouquet wrap.

POLLY WANT A PLACE SETTING? We love how Jamie added some fun, unexpected touches like a colorful parrot (yes, it’s real) and a cigar bar (so very Cuban). She also hung the textured three-tiered wedding cake by Piece of Cake Desserts from the ramada for a whimsical effect. Her choice of sturdy terra cotta chargers and fun print napkins for her tablescape play up the tropical theme and the rose gold flatware adds just the right amount of sparkle. Then Jodi turned the tabletop into a dazzling tropical garden that was so beautiful our parrot had nothing to ruffle its feathers about. Kerri Sydell of Nora Belle Designs created a tropical garden of her own with her colorful invitations, menus and place cards.
